Dr. Arif Albayrak

He was born on October 21, 1956 in BAF, CYPRUS. He graduated from Baf Kurtuluş High School in 1974 and was one of the last graduates. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1980 as a Medical Doctor. Between 1981-1985, he completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology and became an Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist. He completed his military service as a Reserve Officer Doctor in Gülseren Battalion between 1985-1987. He is currently working as a freelance physician in Famagusta.

Dr. Albayrak has worked in many social, cultural, political, professional, sportive and artistic (poetry, music, painting, caricature and photography) institutions and organizations, has been a member and served on the boards of directors. For many years, he served on the boards of directors of the Association of Self-Employed Physicians, Famagusta Physicians and Dentists Solidarity Association, and was a member of the Eastern Mediterranean University Foundation Board of Directors (EMU VYK) between 1994-1997.

He is currently a member of Paphos Culture and Solidarity Association (BKDD), Music Producers Association (MÜDER), Cyprus Art Association (KSD), Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association (KTKD), European Federation of Cartoonists (FECO), European Cervical Cancer Association (ECCA) and Politicians Against Cervical Cancer (PCCP). He is one of the founders of Famagusta Municipality Turkish Music Choir. He is also one of the directors of the bi-communal physician organization “Doctors For Cyprus”.

He served as a Municipal Council Member in Famagusta for 2 terms. He entered the parliament as CTP-BG Famagusta MP in December 2003, February 2005, April 2009 and July 2013 elections. He is married and has 2 children.

He has 11 books published on professional and poetry, painting, caricature, notation and photography. The number of his works consisting of Turkish music, light music and anthems is around 500. His interest in painting dates back to his middle and high school years. Thanks to his teacher Ali Atakan, he loved this branch of art and has been engaged in painting until today.
