DG Art Gallery & Project Brings Generations and Geographies Together at CI21
For the 21st edition of Contemporary Istanbul, DG Art Gallery & Project brings together 21 artists from Türkiye and the international art scene, creating a dialogue across generations, geographies and artistic practices. The presentation ranges from Burhan Doğançay, Güngör Taner, Rasim Aksan and Ali Elmacı to Maurizio Cattelan, Peter Halley, Manolo Valdés and Bernar Venet.
At the 21st edition of Contemporary Istanbul, DG Art Gallery & Project presents a selection shaped around encounters between different generations of artists and a wide range of artistic approaches. Located at Hall B, Booth B157, the gallery’s presentation brings together practices spanning painting and sculpture, figuration and abstraction, as well as diverse approaches to surface, material and conceptual exploration.
The presentation features artists from Türkiye including Rasim Aksan, Beste Alperat, Kadir Akyol, Durmuş Bahar, Seçkin Cebeci, Burhan Doğançay, Ali Elmacı, Mesut İkinci, Quasimotho, Nejat Satı and Güngör Taner. Bringing together artists from different periods and practices, the selection highlights both the distinctions and connections within Türkiye’s contemporary art landscape rather than presenting it through a single generational or aesthetic framework.
The gallery’s international selection includes Maurizio Cattelan, Peter Halley, Muhammad Fauzan, Arik Levy, Asmer Sultanova, Dhawa Rezkyna, Jordi Ribes, Manolo Valdés, Bernar Venet and Albert Willem. By presenting artists shaped by different geographical and cultural contexts alongside artists from Türkiye, DG Art Gallery & Project creates a broader framework for considering contemporary artistic production.
The presence of established figures such as Burhan Doğançay and Güngör Taner alongside artists from younger generations, together with internationally recognised names including Maurizio Cattelan, Peter Halley, Manolo Valdés and Bernar Venet, forms one of the defining aspects of the gallery’s CI21 presentation.
Rather than following a single curatorial theme, the booth brings together contrasting artistic languages and production methods, allowing the works to be read through their points of connection and difference. The presentation reflects DG Art Gallery & Project’s approach of positioning its Türkiye-based programme in dialogue with a broader international art context.
